October 5 Chris White
His name is Chris,
And I'll say this,
a finer punster you'll never find.
His words have meaning,
his melodies seeming
to fall pleasantly upon the mind.
So a night of songs,
some rights and wrongs,
both comedy and issues
of friends and family
that he handles handily
while we listen with our tissues.

October 8 Sara & Kamilla
A folk duo with charisma, the songwriting sisters Sara & Kamila express their views fearlessly through their music, gathering fans wherever they perform. Summer 2002 saw Sara & Kamila touring across Canada. They started out with shows at home in Newfoundland, followed by a cross-country tour highlighted by folk festival appearances at Trout Forest Music Festival and Blue Skies Folk Festival. CBC Radio (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) featured Sara & Kamila on their national broadcast “Singers and Songwriters”, which aired in April, 2002. They also played at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, and were featured performers at ArtQuake in New York City.

The premiere, self-titled CD, Sara & Kamila, was released in January 2000, to rave reviews. The album is a blend of songs inspired by social, environmental, emotional and life issues, with enchanting melodies and harmonies accompanied by soulful instrumentation on guitar, mandolin, piano and flute. This beautiful CD is music to soothe the heart and quiet the mind. Raised in Nova Scotia's Annapolis Valley, the sisters grew up in a musical family, developing a keen interest in creating melodies and harmonies at an early age. Their time growing together has provided them with a profound insight into each other's lives, which serves to compliment and enhance the music of both. Sara & Kamila have been busy creating new music, which is supported by the Canada Arts Council and the Nova Scotia Council of the Arts.

October 11, 12 Norm Hacking with opening act Jeremy Woodland
This very large figure on the Toronto musical scene has been recognised by his peers with a compilation CD of his songs sung by performers from across Canada and the US. Norm himself has released a number of albums and CDs. Blessed with a vibrant voice, and superb songwriting skills Norm is a must hear, here at Rasputin's. Either that or travel to Toronto for his concerts there.

Jeremy Woodland is an accomplished 23-year old acoustic guitarist from Orangeville (northwest of Toronto), now based in Toronto. He has been playing for a dozen years, including formal music studies at Cambrian College. Absorbing a wide range of acoustic guitar styles, his music ranges from country blues and ragtime to bluegrass and classical and anything in between. He performed at Mariposa Folk Festival 2000 in Orillia, taught many students, and issued an indie solo CD "What you hear... is what you get." Recorded live in the studio with no overdubs, it showcases his songwriting and instrumental writing and arranging as well as his fine guitar work. His guitar accompaniment also adds a lovely extra dimension to Norm Hacking's songs in live performance.
